"Another day in paradise"
Another great stay at Grey Heron. The house has plenty of space and great views. We ate on the screen porch, enjoyed drinks on the pier and occasionally dragged ourselves away for time on the beach.

We have wanted to stay at Grey Heron for a long time but it's always booked. Finally got to go and spent my 70th birthday weekend there with my family. It was wonderful. The view cannot be beat - even from the bathroom - LOL. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Wish it could have been longer.

I've been coming to Grey Heron since 1995. While it is definitely showing its age, it is still our favorite house on the island! I noted in the Guest Book that the washing machine should be replaced as it made some scary noises while running. (you may get a call about it) Unfortunately, there was bulkhead construction next door that was so noisy, it forced us to leave the house a couple of times! As far as Coastal Shore is concerned, any contact I had with them was always professional and personable. Cassady and Candie were especially kind and helpful. We REALLY appreciated the opportunity for an early entry. Aside from the rugs needing an "end of season" cleaning, the house was nice and clean. We're booked again for next year and hope that if GH is sold, the new owners will still honor the renter's reservations. If not, I'm sure Coastal Shore will do it's best to find us "comparable" houses.

An amazing, relaxing house. Vacationers are able to see that the owners and the realtor care. The wild life was amazing and we had lost of visitors (birds, fish, crabs, toads, etc.)

Lovely comfortable house. The common rooms are very comfortable and pleasant. 2 of the three bedrooms are very comfortable. The third gets FULL sun in the morning and gets very hot during the day. Perfect room to keep your teen from hiding! A couple appliances need to be repaired/replaced, but we cooked basic meals with ease. If they had provided 1 extra roll of toilet paper and a new toaster it would have meant a lot. If you do not mind a few carpet stains and want a magnificent view from your bedroom. This is the place for your next vacation.

Where do I begin? The Grey Heron is the place to be! Beautiful views of the bay from every window. Amazing sunsets!! Spending time on the pier/dock is my favorite - feeling the breeze from the bay. Can't wait for 2023!!

I loved my retreat at Grey Heron. The owners are making needed repairs but the screen doors don't slide and I fear for the roof which needs looking after. The setting is divine, and the house is spacious and comfortable. I asked for a vacuum cleaner and one arrived the same day. The toaster is very old and a toaster oven would be a major improvement. Otherwise, I loved everything and found the kitchen to be well stocked.

our complaints about cookware and unclean ovenwere met the next day. However, the shades/blinds upstairs in the bedroom need to be REPLACED,the back of a chair at the table downstairs was broken which we reported to housekeeping, and please put solid placemats on the dining table.which we reported

We had stayed at Grey Heron several years ago, but then it was no longer pet friendly, so we took it off our list. We then found out it was again pet friendly and we were able to book a few days in the fall. It is a great place to stay. The location is wonderful and the layout of the house is family friendly. The dock is new from the last time we stayed there, which is a nice improvement. The winding steps to the upstairs are a little tricky for an elderly person like me, but it’s worth the effort. The dogs enjoyed their stay also. Our main criteria for rentals are dog friendly and on the water and Grey Heron meets those needs.perfectly. One improvement I might suggest is maybe some stones in the front for parking and entering the house. It might cut down on the amount of sand and pine needles. We also love the Hal Lott pictures. We have three of them ourselves. Thanks again for opening your Chincoteague home to island visitors.

This Grey Heron is clean and spacious. A spiral staircase leads to the master bedroom with a king sized bed and en suite with the most beautiful views of the bay! This house two smaller bedrooms on the main level, a screened in porch, and another enclosed sun porch with windows. There really isn't a bad view in the entire house. It sits across from the historic Timothy Hill house. The Grey Heron is a wonderful place to stay for some serious R&R.Side note: I'm a little taken aback by Rebecca's remarks. Yes, the glass doors stick a bit and the yard is on the smaller side but overall, it's a wonderful place to stay. I don't know what she means by the decks are disgusting. My husband and I and our two large dogs loved being there and hanging out on the dock or splashing around in the bay. We would absolutely stay at the Grey Heron again.

I loved staying at this property so much! The pictures don’t do the location justice! each room has beautiful bay front views and it is so beautiful and peaceful. the sunsets are just amazing and having a private dock was so much fun. it was clean and came with everything we needed! the only thing I could suggest is maybe keeping a plunger in the bathrooms and also having recycling, but I am not sure of Chincoteague’s recycling program and if there is any. thank you sooooo much!

Vintage artwork from local artist Hall Lott, known for his cover artwork for the Chincoteague Island Easter & Decoy Festival and Pony Swim posters, adorn the walls at every turn. Plush, cozy furniture in the living area as well as a round-about room featuring stunning 180-degree views of Chincoteague Bay and salt marsh give you plenty of space to enjoy company comfortably. A fully equipped kitchen (range, dishwasher, refrigerator) to prepare meals for family and friends, which is connected to the great room featuring a beautiful working fireplace and natural wooden floors. Grey Heron features 3 bedrooms, each boasting their own private balcony. On the upper level (accessible by the spiral staircase in the great room) you'll find the master bedroom - with the largest balcony, overlooking the sweeping vista of the bay and marsh. A comfortable king sized bed and television, as well as a full bath. The floor to ceiling bay window delivers plenty of natural island sunshine into the bedroom. Downstairs you will find the other two bedrooms - both with queen sized beds, a small balcony, and a cozy sitting area with view of the bay and marsh. Bring your bushel basket and crab right off the dock, then enjoy the bounty of the Chincoteague Bay from the screened-in porch. Bring your kayaks as well and launch them right from the private launch found off the bulkhead on the property. An outdoor shower to hose off after a sandy day at the beach. Plenty of space outside to enjoy family activities, and pet-friendly so bring your furry friends - they love basking in the sun on the dock as much as people do!

- This property is pet friendly with a pet fee per pet. Pet fee is $150 per pet. All pets must be disclosed prior to arrival.
