We have stayed at southern exposure for 8 years now. It has a great dock for crabbing, fishing, and kayaking. Don’t be fooled by the front. The views from the back of the water and Assoteague are beautiful. The inside is very spacious. We like that is is close to Assoteague and we can ride our bikes easily from there to the beach or the other trails.

This was a perfect place for a two-family reunion -- the cousins loved biking to Assateague to splash in the surf and playing cards together in the evening. The grownups liked kayaking off the dock for a sunrise paddle, especially since the floating platform beside the dock made it so easy. (We rented the kayaks.) The kids fought over spots on the cozy couch, which looked less appealing in the photos. And having two sets of tables inside and another on the porch gave plenty of easy options for games and meals. It was the perfect size for five (one grownup and four kids) but we were glad we had arranged for the other set of parents to sleep elsewhere (because of Covid) -- one bedroom has a view of the channel but the other bedrooms are less glamorous. The kitchen is a good size and is well equipped, and the gas grill on the front porch is an easy dash outside. We all agreed the cheery clean laundry room is nicer than the ones we use at home. The outdoor shower is a plus, but best of all is the location on Piney Island, right on the channel.
