Description

Charming Chincoteague coastal cottage doesn't even begin to describe this place, but it's a start. Cheery, bright, and colorful - with some form of island history gracing every nook and cranny. Find the perfect mix of old and new in this unique home. Close enough to the main drag on Maddox Boulevard and Main Street - but out of the hurly-burly here on Ocean Boulevard. Wake up a few minutes before everyone else and head across the street to get fresh donuts from Mister Whippy or chocolate croissants from Amarin to surprise everyone with. You'll be the hero for the day, until someone else brings home oysters that night. Oh, and bring your furry friends along, because this one's PET FRIENDLY! This property features lots of nooks for sleeping spaces - a loft upstairs, featuring skylights that let the bright island sunshine flood in. Up here you'll find a cozy king size bed in one room, and two twins in another, with a full bath that features a gorgeous tiled stand up shower. Downstairs you'll find two more bedrooms - one with two twins, and the other with a queen. Three different comfortable living areas, one of which is an outdoor sunroom - and that room has doors that connects to the downstairs queen - in addition to the main living area. Small backyard area for letting the puppies play or eating lunch outside at the picnic table. The retro mid-century kitchen has everything you'll need to prepare that island seafood dinner with what you catch down at the town dock, and a lovely dining area to enjoy it as a family. Donovan's Reef is located in the heart of downtown Chincoteague, allowing you an easy walk to all the shopping the island has to offer. Stop by Chincotiki on your way home and grab an orange crush or two!

"Great Place!"

This is a really great house with very newly remodeled bathrooms and bedrooms. You should definitely update the pictures online - there are none of the bedrooms or bathrooms and really does the place a disservice! The house is very comfortable, clean, close to Maddox Blvd - we loved it! Great for 2 families as one can have very comfortable and spacious upstairs and one downstairs each with own bathroom for 2 bedrooms! Perfect location! Great stay!!

"What A Beautiful Home!"

The home is adorable, sweet, and very deceiving in size! You pull up to this house and right away you’re relaxed. When you walk inside, WOW!! We could not get over how big the rooms were and how we instantly felt the vacation vibe really hit. We felt so at home and were so sad to leave! We fixed that however - we already booked for next year!!

"Great house for families"

Our family of 6 had a great time in this pretty and well located home. There were enough places to gather, sleep, and eat. There were a few things that need a bit of work. The upstairs king bed is very, very hard and that was uncomfortable. Also, the outside lights are very bright at night and darker curtains would have helped with that. That being said, it is a nice and spacious house and we would definately go back.

We loved the house because it is quite spacious and in a great location. The only thing missing is a fenced yard for children or pets.The owner should invest in a new picnic table with an umbrella because the yard is very sunny.

This was our second time staying at this home. We love the location, how spacious it is, and that you can bring your dog. The bathrooms have been newly renovated, which was a nice surprise. We always have a great time here. Can't wait for next year.

I have always wanted to step into the house across the street on Ocean Blvd. I started to come to the Island in 1960's with my husband and his sister and friend. I fell in love with the Island and its peaceful surroundings. I think this particular house has a lot of charm. It is spacious and has a combination of the old and new. The enclosed porches are ideal for relaxing. It was a dream come true.

Pleasant little house in a great location. There house is in need of some updating, mostly the kitchen and stairs leading to the back door. There are a few oddities with the upstairs being a open concept which did not offer much privacy when using the bathroom. The skylights in the top floor were nice to have natural sunlight to wake up to. We had some issues with AC not working and the upstairs shower leaking into one of the bedrooms but property management took care of them quickly.

This is our 2nd stay in Donovan's Reef. There have been improvements since we stayed there 2 years ago. The remodeled bathrooms are very nice. The living room couch is more comfortable than the old one. The house worked very well for our 3 adults and 2 children.

We loved this house, Donovan's Reef. So many windows and so much light and fresh air. The older style is my favorite. It was perfect size for five adults and three little children. Good walking distance to town and Lil Whippy. Near the end of our visit the bathtub stopped draining and two men were immediately sent to look into it. (Unfortunately the drain needed a professional plumber and it was late Friday so no baby baths Friday and Saturday). But I would rent this house again and recommend it to others.

The Donovan Reef was an excellent choice for our week visit to Chincoteague Area. The house was airy and cheery with comfortable beds, sofas, and chairs; with several rooms (living, sofa, dining, porch); and with good appliances. Having wireless internet was a plus. The following suggestions would be cost-effective: 1. Replace the unwelcoming, black "Welcome" sign. 2. Re-paint white trim around front door. 3. Re-touch front shutters. 4. Re-paint metal covers to 2 bathroom heat units. 5. Re-place rusted registers in downstairs bath, kitchen, and utility rooms. 6. Remove damaged, unused toilet paper, tile holder and re-place with tile.The location is quiet, but convenient to everything. We appreciated that we could bring our 2 golden retrievers.
