There is a fanciful quality to this secluded property where nature's beauty and luxurious accommodations coexist in quiet harmony. Located on the banks of Holden's Creek, a headwater of the Chesapeake Bay and a 20-minute drive to the pristine white sand Atlantic beach on Assateague Island, Creek House Guest Cottages are private, convenient, and offer bespoke modern amenities. Explore life off the beaten path and take a true vacation. Whether you are kayaking or paddle boarding on the creek, sitting by the fire pit, biking down country roads or going to the beach, you will find plenty to do or enjoy doing nothing at all. The views of the creek are magical at any time of the day or night from inside your cottage or from any vantage point on the 3-acre property. The Cottages have been designed and decorated by a professional interior designer.

'Porter's Barn' has partnered with our friends at Sun Outdoors Resort (located less than 2 miles from the house) so that all guests may enjoy the fun resort amenities FREE OF CHARGE. This extra bonus includes a private beach w/ water rentals, pool, playground, "snak shak", comfort stations & more! 

Shared amenities include: a gas grill, 20 ft. radius fire pit, 2 kayaks, a SUP, and 2 bicycles. There is a boat launch on the property and two docks (one floating). Linens and towels are provided.

Porter's Barn: 900 square ft. Full Kitchen and Laundry Room. Marble Bathroom. Sleeps 2 (Queen Bed). Outdoor Shower. Smart TV. WIFI

In addition to Porter's Barn, the compound is also home to two other luxurious dwellings: Hosta Cottage and Creek House. All combined, The Creek Compound will accommodate 18 with no parking problems. Please note that this listing is for Porter's Barn only; the other two homes - Creek House and Hosta Cottage - must be booked separately. A direct inquiry should be sent for special event pricing or if you wish to rent the entire compound.

- Linens and towels are included with your reservation. 
- No smoking is permitted on the premises. 
- This property is pet friendly with a pet fee per pet. All pets must be disclosed prior to arrival. Limitations: one dog only. No pets on the furniture, please.
- Any reservations made for a future year (known as "Advanced Reservations") are subject to rate and availability changes. These reservations will be confirmed in January of the arrival year.

The barn was very nice, and we enjoyed our stay for our 50th wedding anniversary. We had been to Chincoteague several times in the past and thought we would stay here and spend some time in Chincoteague. We found the beach scene much more crowded this time and preferred to stay at the creek and fish at the dock. We did visit the Sun Resort briefly. As far as suggestions for a better stay, we would have liked to have a couch or love seat for a comfortable place to relax. One chair didn’t quite get it. Also, we found the tv remote very hard to work. We could have used some instructions. All in all, an enjoyable stay.

"Perfect R&R"

Porter’s Barn was a perfect escape for my wife and I just prior to the start of the school year. The cottage was well appointed with everything that we needed and having use of the kayaks on the property was awesome. We loved watching the sunrise out of the amazing windows, seeing the osprey catch fish in Holdens Creek and seeing all the other birds, including an owl! Jenny, the owner, was so nice and was great with our questions. Thank you for the perfect R&R location! Bring on the school year!

Naturally beautiful setting and well designed space. Very pleasant to stay if you enjoy birdlife, quiet and peace. Well equipped kitchen , towels, bath etc. The tap water odor(sulphur?) is the only odd detraction. Thanks so much for quick reply on all requests.

"Woodland Oasis"

Our time at The Porter’s Barn was everything we dreamed of! The barn is so beautiful with concrete floors, spa-like bathroom, full kitchen with sleek appliances. It was so appreciated to have the kitchen stocked with several pantry staples, such as salt/pepper, foil, parchment paper, Keurig pods, and more. Full size stove top, oven, dishwasher, and all the dishes and pans you might need. The fire pit was pre-stocked with kindling & fire wood. Of course you need to come prepared to use bug spray, but that is to be expected with the beautiful wooded setting. I loved the outdoor ground lighting that illuminated the property at night. The wifi & cell signal is weak- which may be a good thing if looking to escape. Would not be an ideal remote work location. All of Assateague island can be reached within a 30-60min drive. There’s a Food Lion, pharmacy, sonic, & family dollar “in town” about 10-15 mins from the property. 10/10 recommend!

We enjoyed everything about our stay, the views, the location, the beautiful open concept of the home. It was a great location for being away from it all but easy access to go and explore the towns and all they had to offer. Overall we were very happy with our stay everything was just as pictured and more!

This is one of the best accommodations we’ve rented in a long time. We loved the scenic and quiet location on HoldenCreek and the guest house was just perfect. Wonderful host! It was awesome to wake up to a beautiful sunrise, open the doors and hear all the birds and waterfowl start their day. So peaceful.

We stayed at Porter's Barn for a quiet getaway near the water, but also wanting to explore the eastern shore communities, and it was a magical experience all around. The host was warm and helpful, and the management team responsive and supportive. The house itself is just absolutely elegant. We will definitely be back!

Porter's Barn is a fabulous retreat! The accommodations are extremely well done, immaculately maintained and very comfortable. The setting is spectacular, with pristine views of Holden's Creek and beautiful wildlife. If you're seeking a remote location to relax and remove yourself from a hectic pace, this is it. The kitchen is very well outfitted with quality appliances, where one can prepare simple meals. There are Adirondack chairs around the fire pit, providing an ideal spot for unwinding and enjoying a beverage. (you may want to bring bug spray!) I would highly recommend this property for anyone seeking seclusion, but with easy access to route 13 and a 20 minute drive to Chincoteague. *Note that there is a nearby cottage on property with a long term tenant, but that didn't negatively affect us in any way. ENJOY!

So enjoyed my Eastern Shore line time and being based at this unique contemporary updated barn was such a perfect setting with the newly updated barns high end finishes and lovely warm heritage & too modern furnishings A perfect getaway hyde. Waking each morning in the Porter's Barn was a breathtaking time & Time on foot around the property was so relaxing with hearing birds singing and the trees rustling all made the near & inviting blue bay's water so warmly grounding. I definitely hope to be able to be booking the Porter's Barn as my Eastern Shore's first choice home base with a few nights stay at anytime of the year.

This guest house is incredible. I have stayed in Ritz Carltons and 4 Seasons and honestly Porter's Barn can rival any of those luxury hotels.....but it was totally unpretentious- which made it even nicer. I couldn't believe it. When I walked in the door, it was even better than the photos advertised. I needed a couple of days to just unwind and do nothing, and I didn't want to fly. I arrived from DC in 3 hours flat. It was so peaceful there and the setting was just gorgeous- Really, everything was perfect.I loved watching the wildlife and birds during the day while reading outside. Two otters were swimming figure 8's right in front of me.... It was so precious. And hearing the owls at night when I would step out to look at the stars, was just enchanting. I drove to Chincoteague for a late afternoon/ evening walk on the beach on two seperate days. It was so easy and beautiful even in March! Also the catering service brought two awesome dinners. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I will be coming back to kayak on the creek in a couple of months. THANK YOU! What a jewel.
