Description

Come and enjoy a delightful vacation at "Shell Cottage"! Located on the popular East Side of Chincoteague Island, you'll enjoy water views of the Assateague Channel and lounging on the outside decks (one which includes an outside shower). This open floor plan home features two bedrooms downstairs (both with a queen bed and a TV each), a half bathroom, and spacious living room & kitchen. Upstairs you'll find 2 more bedrooms (one with twin trundle and the other with 2 twins) and a full bathroom. Just a short drive to the Memorial Waterfront Park, public boat launch, downtown area and restaurants! Shell Cottage also includes all the modern conveniences such as wireless internet, washer/dryer, dishwasher and more. And you'll have room to park your boat and trailer. This just may be your perfect vacation spot!

"Perfect Escape!"

We loved our stay at Shell Cottage! The front yard and deck get tons of morning sun, so we had coffee/breakfast on the deck every morning while our dog played in the yard, while evenings were great for a dip in the hot tub on the back deck. The home was very comfortable - especially the bed and couch - and had everything we could want! The addition of a tea kettle and dish drain (for drying hand washed dishes) would make it perfect. Great location with water views!

Great property . Well maintained and clean. Loved the yard for the dogs. Great parking and easy access. The hosts were quick to reply with answers to questions. The power for the entire block went out the first night we were there. It was up again within 30 minutes. The hosts checked back with us to make sure everything was ok.

Honestly the house and the area as well as the service were great. We loved that we managed to get in early and the vacation company were so communicative. The only fault is the house is looking a bit tired- there were a lot of loose nails- but most importantly was the beds. The bedding that stayed at the house was in need for refresh and the mattresses- the queens need replacing. They completely sagged in the middle and it ruined everyone’s sleep. New mattresses and a lick of paint would do wonders

We love that Shell Cottage is dog friendly! Love the fenced front yard. Wonder if you would ever consider fencing in the back yard so dogs could be our back as well, unleashed. One other thought is it would be great to have a clothes line for drying suits and towels - maybe out by hot tub? Our stay was great! Thank you!!

Well equipped, beautifully furnished......Wish mattress in the room we used (downstairs bedroom) had been firm and without a very thick foam pad). Hope to stay again next year.

The little cottage and its location were good, however, there were some things that could be improved. For example, none of the TVs were functioning. Our rental agent, Lea, suggested that someone could stop by, but in the limited time we had available we were on the go most of the time. Although our first impression of the property's appearance was positive, there are some serious cleaning issues; for example, inside of kitchen cabinets and appliances. Among other details the yard needs urgent care. Finally, instructions about where to find what would be extremely helpful.

This was probably one of our best visits to Chincoteague! The house is great! Super clean! Nice and quiet location (we’ve never stayed on the east side of the island before) with a water view and you can clearly see the lighthouse. Comfy beds and the shower is amazing! The couch is comfy and the kitchen is spacious with a breakfast bar and a large dining table. Lots of books! Back yard is nicely equipped and somewhat secluded (although there is a property directly behind the cottage that almost looks like it should be part of the property ... if that is a separate rental and had guests you’d be pretty much sharing the yard). Hot tub is lovely and was so relaxing (operating instructions were a bit vague). Kitchen is well stocked equipment-wise and the welcome bag is a nice touch; no leftover kitchen basics from previous guests is the only downer (spices, etc). We have found our go-to rental and the time of year was perfect (October) - no crowds and barely any mozzies! Highly recommend!

Shell Cottage was amazing. The property was clean and well maintained and well stocked. It was well stocked with pots and pans and silverware. The beds were comfortable. The location was very quiet and close to downtown and the beach. I loved the backyard covered seating area, outdoor shower, and gas grill.

This pet friendly house had a good amount of animal hair on the furniture. Clearly previous guests did not follow through with the contract requirements of keeping pets off the furniture. We heard there was a housekeeping shortage on the island and we offer grace to this situation. However, there was a noticeable amount of hair on the furniture. Also, the utility sink drain was not hooked up. It drains right to the floor. That was an annoying surprise. The bathrooms were clean. The AC worked well! And we enjoyed the keyless entry :)

An excellent rental experience for our small multi-generation family - toddler, parents and grandparents, and family pet. Despite a challenging mosquito week in Chincoteague so close to the water, it was a nearly perfect stay. Only the addition of a screen porch front or back could have made it more perfect. That would be Shell Cottage Plus (+). Thank you.

Had some trouble getting the door code on Saturday when we arrived at 4 pm but A quick phone call took care of that. The house had a beautiful open floor plan with a huge kitchen/dining room. (Plenty of room to cook family dinners). We spent most of our time on the back deck under the gazebo but be aware that there is another house directly behind this rental! Due to this and the use of surveillance cameras, we refrained from using the outside shower all week which is a bummer. We noticed an awful smell while doing laundry in the washer and then realized the washer had black mold. Overall, this place looks small from the outside but IT IS NOT SMALL AT ALL inside! The bathrooms are clean and updated and there is also a half bath between dining room and living room which was so helpful! Another tip: there is a house near by with a rooster... you can’t hear him fromInside but outside you surely can hear him let loose. To each their own ��‍♀️

The Shell Cottage was a delight to stay at! It was the perfect size for our family of 4, although we could have had a couple more people come. We loved the downstairs bedrooms, the large kitchen and the outside shower. It was also perfect for our dog, Koda, who was a rescue and is a little nervous about new places. Having the bedrooms on the first floor made her feel more at ease since she loves to sleep in the same room as us. The fenced in yard was also a plus although she doesn't really think about trying to run away. All in all, a lovely cottage and home that we would definitely rent again sometime. Thank you!

We had a great stay! We had a water view, a large fenced yard, and a huge kitchen! The outdoor shower was great! It was quiet and had lots of extra toys for the kids to enjoy. It was very clean except for a moldy smell in the fridge (no sign of mold though) and visible mold in the washer. But the rest was immaculate! We appreciated the pet friendly status. The mosquitoes were unbearable at the end, but that is no fault of the owners. We would definitely stay at Shell Cottage again!

"Perfect Vacation Home!!"

My husband and I stayed at Shell Cottage for over a week at the beginning of January and can’t wait to return. The location is close to everything you may want or need. The house is very large and roomy with an open floor plan and two queen bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms on the first floor and two bedrooms (with three beds) upstairs. There are two and a half bathrooms total. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a full, separate laundry room. There is a ton of countertop space for preparing and cooking meals. There is a front porch/deck and a deck and outdoor shower out back. The front yard is plenty big enough for kids and dogs to play in. Everything inside is comfortable, especially the living room, and even in the winter the rooms are bright and sunny. It is fully Wi-fi equipped. Despite its size, it has a cozy downhome feel. The hardwood floors add to the coziness, charm and beauty of the place. The parking lot easily fits four cars. Though the house is in a residential neighborhood, there is a nice view of the water with a forest behind it out the front windows. I suggest going out into the front yard and star-gazing at night. As city-dwellers we rarely see the beauty of the night sky, so this has been an especially welcome treat. We are so happy and relaxed here we don’t want to go home! Highly recommend!
